Man found dead outside Memorial Hermann was patient at Methodist Hospital, police say

Detectives say the deceased 73-year-old appeared to have suffered from blunt force trauma to the head.

HOUSTON — The man found dead outside Memorial Hermann Hospital on Wednesday was a patient at Methodist Hospital, according to University of Texas Police at Houston.

Stanley Spigel, 73, was seeking treatment for depression when he went missing. Surveillance footage showed him leaving the hospital alone around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

His body was found hours later by a construction worker around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Detectives say Spigel appeared to have suffered from blunt force trauma to the head.

Houston Police say they're waiting for an official ruling on the man's cause of death but foul play is a concern.

UT Police say there will be an increased police presence on the hospital campus by officers in vehicles and on foot.
