Man found dead with a gunshot wound to the chest inside crashed vehicle along the Southwest Freeway

HPD said they first thought it was a fatal single-vehicle crash, but found the driver inside with a gunshot wound to the chest.

HOUSTON — A man was found fatally shot inside a crashed vehicle in southwest Houston Saturday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.

It happened on the Southwest Freeway feeder road near Club Creek Drive around 10:49 p.m.

HPD said they first thought it was a fatal single-vehicle crash, but found the driver inside with a gunshot wound to the chest.

"We do not know where the actual shooting occurred. We're going to be working on that," Detective Keith Lovelace with HPD's Homicide Division told KHOU 11 News.

The victim's identity hasn't been released, but Lovelace said he was a resident of Stafford.
