A Lodi man wants his name in the Guinness Book of World records. He is on a mission to pedal a quarter million miles from the seat of his stationary bike.

Rob Peterson admits the record is ambitious but the 55 year old is inspired by something much bigger than the recognition.

"I am riding for my daughter she has MS and we want to raise awareness," Peterson said.

Peterson is racing for a cure. Ten years ago his daughter Allison was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis or MS. The disease affects the nervous system causing some people to lose control of their body.

Advancements in medication have helped Allison manage the progression of the disease.

"We are asking people to donate to the National MS society," Peterson said.

Peterson wants to pedal 250,000 miles within five years. The goal is to pedal 50,000 miles a year. You can follow his progress and learn more about his cause on his website.
