A Texas City man seeks up to $1 million in damages in a lawsuit that claims he was injured in a crude oil tank explosion in Galveston nearly two years ago.

GALVESTON A Texas City man seeks up to $1 million in damages in a lawsuit that claims he was injured in a crude oil tank explosion in Galveston nearly two years ago.

Kim Bell, 50, suffered injuries that weren t life threatening during the Feb. 23, 2012, explosion of a crude oil tank at Texas International Terminals, 4800 Old Port Industrial Road, according to his attorney, Richard Burwell.

City officials said five people were hurt. Four workers were treated for smoke inhalation, and a firefighter suffered heat stress.

The lawsuit, which originally was filed Oct. 13 in Galveston s 10th District Court, claims Texas International Terminals and Sullivan Industrial were negligent, among other things. Michael A. Orlando, attorney for the defendants, denied the allegations in November court filings.
