HOUSTON — Lake Houston will be temporarily lowered by 12 inches, beginning Sunday, in preparation for the heavy rain headed to Southeast Texas.
There is the potential for 4 to 8+ inches of total rainfall accumulations from Monday through Wednesday. We could see 3 to 4 inches of rainfall on Monday alone.
The temporary lowering of Lake Houston will begin Sunday afternoon because the process will take about 24 hours to get Lake Houston's elevation to 41.4 feet.
Houston Public Works said property owners should secure property along the shoreline.
