Houston thrift store green jacket has new owner; helps another charity

For a church thrift shop, it’s the equivalent of hitting a hole-and-one.

Now a green jacket from Augusta National Golf Club found at The Guild Shop has a new owner in Pennsylvania, who's identity is being revealed this week for the first time.

"This was a real find,” said Gaye Jackson, the executive director of The Guild Shop, of the jacket in a January 2016 interview with KHOU 11 News. “We were going through a box of clothes and she came upon this green jacket, and she brought it immediately to our volunteer coordinator and said 'I think this might be something."

Upon seeing the news of the discovery on the internet, Fred Laurenzo, a car dealership owner from Lebanon, Pennsylvania, quickly purchased the jacket from The Guild Shop for $18,000.

Laurenzo offers his customers a picture of them wearing the jacket -- once belonging to Houston banker and civic leader Ben Love, a past member of Augusta National who passed away in 2006 -- for a small donation to breast cancer awareness and research. ""People love to come in and have their picture taken with it," he told WHP-TV, the CBS station in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

It seems the new owner and the old green jacket are a pretty good fit.
