HOUSTON – Police are investigating a shooting on the Texas Southern University campus that sent one person to the hospital late Tuesday.

According to the TSU Police Department, it happened at about 10:15 p.m. at Wheeler Avenue and Ennis on Tiger Walk near the Recreation Center.

As a poetry slam event wrapped up at the campus museum, shots rang out.

The suspect identified as Darios Tramain Crayton Scott allegedly opened fire and shot Jordan Schott twice in the stomach. The victim is not a student at TSU and is expected to survive.

This is the second time shots have been fired on campus in the last six weeks. In late August, a shooting happened at a campus dorm. That shooting turned deadly and TSU sophomore Darius Nochols was charged with murder.

Students say these recent incidents are making them question security and safety on campus.

"Knowing that we repeatedly are going through this, it doesn't make me feel safe," said Myesha Johsnon.

"You're not supposed to bring guns on campus, but it seems like it happens all the time," said Don Davis. "We need to do something to make it safer for college students here."

The suspect was enrolled as a student at TSU last semester, but is not currently enrolled. As of Wednesday evening, he was not in custody. If you have any information about what happened call TSU Police. The university has resumed regular operations on campus.
