MONTGOMERY, Texas — Good news for drivers in Montgomery County. A road washed out by heavy rainfall in late July is now open again in both directions, according to County Judge Mark Keough.
FM 1097 West over Atkins Creek was left with a massive gaping hole after rain washed away a chunk of it on July 23.
The Texas Department of Transportation shut it down while repairs were made.
Keough said crews completed the job "in record time."
"I’m amazed at the work that TxDOT and the contractors have been able to complete in such a short period of time," Keogh posted.
He said drivers should still be cautious in the area while work continues to shore up surrounding areas to prevent any further erosion.
