Montgomery County road remains closed after part of it was washed out during heavy rain

FM 1097 West over Atkins Creek was damaged in heavy rain that fell there this week.

MONTGOMERY, Texas — If you’re driving out in Montgomery County, there’s one washed out road that you won’t be able to travel on.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, FM 1097 West over Atkins Creek washed out in heavy rains. That’s just east of the City of Montgomery,

The road has been closed since Tuesday and according to TxDOT, it will remain closed until it's completely repaired.

At this point, there’s not a timeline for the road to reopen.

Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough said in a post on Wednesday that reopening the road is a priority and he plans to work closely with TxDOT to get it safely back open.
