Former Texas City commissioner arrested for DWI, could have probation revoked

The Galveston County District Attorney's Office filed motions to revoke Dee Ann Haney's probation.

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas — Former Texas City commissioner Dee Ann Haney is in trouble with the law again.

On Friday, Haney was handcuffed and walked into the Galveston County Jail after she was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated on Thursday night.

Haney is on probation after she was convicted on two counts of criminally negligent homicide last year.

In 2017, a grand jury indicted Haney on two counts of manslaughter for the deaths of Hong Phuc Le and Duoc Van Le. She was initially charged with felony intoxicated manslaughter.

On July 3, 2017, Haney allegedly was driving on the shoulder of I-45 near the Galveston Causeway at an “unsafe speed,” according to officials, and crashed into the father and his son who were standing outside of their truck.

Haney is accused of driving after consuming Metaxalone, Zolpidem or Pseudoephedrine, authorities said. Court documents state she admitted to smoking marijuana before the crash.

She was sentenced to 10 years of community supervision.

The Galveston County District Attorney's Office said it has filed motions to revoke Haney's probation.
