18-wheeler hangs over downtown Dallas bridge after crash, officials say

The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to a hospital for treatment.

DALLAS — An 18-wheeler went partially over a downtown Dallas interstate bridge Wednesday morning, as heavy rains moved through North Texas for several hours, officials say.

The crash happened on southbound U.S. 75/Interstate 345, near the Live Oak exit, according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said the crash involved an 18-wheeler that was hanging off the side of the highway bridge. The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The crash was causing heavy backups along U.S. 75 and Interstate 345 into and through downtown Dallas.

More information about how the crash happened was not yet available.

North Texas, including downtown Dallas, was hit with more heavy rains Wednesday morning. Most of the storms in the area were not severe, but they were bringing torrential downpours and frequent lightning.
