KATY, Texas — On Wednesday, we told you about a man who was going to homes in Cinco Ranch, saying he was a security guard and asking unusual questions while making what the sheriff's office said were inappropriate comments.
In an update posted by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office to Facebook Thursday, officials said the man was doing it as a prank to be posted to social media. They said they found the guy and talked to him. They don’t believe he’s a threat to the public.
In the original post to Facebook on Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said the man had been "making inappropriate comments, including asking residents if they have any valuables in the residence and mentioning that he will be inside and outside of their homes without their knowledge or consent.”

In their update, the sheriff’s office warned that pranks like this can lead to unnecessary alarm.
“What may seem like a harmless joke can escalate quickly and lead to unintended consequences,” the post reads. “We urge everyone to exercise caution and be respectful of others' safety and privacy.”
Because the person is not considered a threat, KHOU 11 is now blurring his face.
