BRENHAM, Texas -- It's been tough for businesses in Brenham, where Blue Bell is headquartered, after the company ceased production entirely after the listeria outbreak.

Inside the restaurant/bakery Must be Heaven, people will find plenty of smiles and plenty of pie, but no ice cream.

"Won't go another brand," said owner Charlie Pyle.

Pyle said he is loyal to the Blue Bell brand no matter what.

"We still have people come to town that don't know that we don't have Blue Bell ice cream. Or they'll walk in here and think we picked up another brand or something like that and I just want to let them know 'No, we're not out of Blue Bell. We're out of ice cream,'" said Pyle.

He also said some of the slower business can be attributed to a soggier than usual spring.

"You just made adjustments, you don't order as much, you don't prep as much and you don't staff as much," Pyle told KVUE.

Typically, spring and summer are their busiest times.

"It's still been brisk, but it hasn't been a typical summer," Pyle said.

Pyle said he is holding out hope that Blue Bell will eventually begin production, and therefore guided tours at the plant once again, bringing thousands of people to the Central Texas town famous for its ice cream.
