BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas — A man is in a hospital after a shootout with deputies in Brazoria County Sunday night.
According to the sheriff’s office, a man and woman were fighting over a gun around 9 p.m. at a home on Oak Crest Drive in Manvel.
They said Elloy Carrillo Jr. ignored deputies' orders to drop his gun so they tased him. BCSO said Carillo managed to retrieve his weapon and started firing at deputies so they shot him multiple times.
He survived and was taken to a Houston-area hospital in critical condition.
No deputies were injured.
Carillo was out on parole for a 1998 murder conviction in Harris County, according to BCSO.
The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation into the shooting.
The four deputies will be placed on administrative leave until the investigation is finished, which is standard policy.
