'I've never seen a dog who can love so much': New owners of rescued pup 'Janelle' give update

Janelle's puppies are growing up and hardly recognizable now as they enjoy their new names and new families.

Abandoned in the night and chained to a fence, a pup was left pregnant and alone outside the Harris County Animal Shelter.

"I've never seen a dog like this, that's my thing. I've never seen a dog who can love so much." said Kelly Tovar.

She adopted the dog who was named Janelle after KHOU 11 reporter Janelle Bludau who found the dog while working in front of the shelter early one morning.

Tovar and Janelle the dog are now the best of friends. They have matching beanies and t-shirts and the two even snuggle together at night.

"And I see Janelle just like waving her tail at me and I’m like ‘Oh my God I need this dog!'" said Tovar.

Janelle brought laughs and even more love to Tovar’s new home.

“I don't know what her past was like, but I don't think she got too affected by it, I think she's a great dog." said Tovar.

When she was found last May, Janelle's ultrasound showed several pups were on the way. She gave birth at her foster home just days later.

Her 11 babies were soon ready to say good bye and all found new homes. But only one stayed close to mom.

“I look at her and I look at Janelle and it's the same dog, just a different color. They even act the same." said Cynthia Garduno. She is Tovar’s partner and adopted the puppy originally named Lisa and now called Luna.

“She brings happiness to the house I think. She's very excited, she's like a little kid." said Garduno.

"She wants love, she wants cuddles, she wants to be touched all the time. If you don't, she'll try to bite your hand because she needs that. She won’t let you not give her love." said Garduno of Luna.

Today, the tiny pup has grown so much and her siblings have too… now they are hard to recognize.

We caught up with some of their new owners and received pictures of the pups. Chita is doing well, her new family now calls her Athena and Altuve has a new name too, he's called Blue.

And there's Harvey, the cutie who's found himself a career with UPS.

Since we first found Janelle, 12 families now have a little more life in their homes, all because of one sweet life that someone left behind.

"I think that if they didn't leave Janelle, I wouldn't have Lisa, everything happens for a reason, I don't know why they did it, but it was a good outcome for us." said Garduno.
