ROSENBERG, Texas Students, staff and community members gathered Thursday to remember a coach and a teacherwho diedin an apparent double murder-suicide at a Rosenberg hotel.

George Ranch High School football coach Trevor White and teacher Destiny Pickett were found dead Friday night at Regency Inn & Suites in Rosenberg. Pickett s estranged husband, Clifford, was also found deceased.

Bus loads of students and staff Thursday morning attended a memorial service for White at First Baptist Church in Richmond.

A memorial service for Pickett was held at 2 p.m. at the Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

Meanwhile, questions still remain regarding what provoked the shooting. Some parents said White and Destiny Pickett were childhood friends and he was helping her through a messy divorce.

Police have not confirmed that and investigators continue to stay quiet about the motive.

Before being hired at George Ranch, White spent nine years in the Alief Independent School District, becoming head football coach at Taylor High School in 2007.

Alief ISD Spokeswoman Susan Castro said White was a very successful coach and that at one point, he coached star athlete Martellus Bennett, who currently plays tight end for the Dallas Cowboys.

Castro said the entire Alief community was stunned after hearing the news that White had been killed.

They re remembering them as good people, said George Ranch freshman Morgan McCabe. Coach White and Mrs. Pickett were always there for you. You could always talk to them about anything. And Mrs. Pickett always had a smile on her face.
