Burns Original BBQ history

Burns BBQ began in 1973 when Roy Burns Sr. started selling his barbecue to the Acres Home community.

Word quickly spread about his signature barbecue rub and sauce and the small northside business on De Priest St. boomed.

Fifty years later, the original building on De Priest still stands and they've added barbecue joints in Katy, Pearland and Summerwood.

Even more foodies discovered the award-winning restaurant when the late Anthony Bourdain raved about it in 2004 and again in 2016. The celebrity chef took viewers of "Parts Unknown" around the world as he explored local cuisines in often unexpected places. A Donkeeboy mural on the restaurant's exterior includes a nod to Bourdain.
