Friends find woman dead in Meyerland apartment, Houston police say

Detectives and HPD’s crime scene unit were working to determine what happened.

HOUSTON — Police are searching for a man in connection with the case of a woman found dead in her Meyerland apartment Saturday afternoon.

This happened at an apartment complex on North Braeswood Boulevard near Chimney Rock.

Houston police said officers responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m. Detectives and HPD’s crime scene unit were working to piece together what exactly happened.

Police said that the suspect in the case is still on the run. While they have not released a description, they said they know who he is.

Investigators also said the suspect and the victim lived relatively close to one another, but it’s not clear if they knew each other.

Police said friends of the victim showed up to her apartment concerned on Saturday. They told police that they saw the man with a gun run from the victim’s apartment and immediately called police.

When the victim’s friends went to check up on her, they found her dead, police said.

Little information is still available about this case.

A SWAT team was called to check another location where police thought the gunman might be. However, the suspect ended up not being there.

Homicide investigators said they would continue to talk to witnesses. They added that it's not clear what led up to the shooting, but anyone with information is of course urged to come forward or call Crime Stoppers.
