HOUSTON — A woman fell off an overpass after she was hit by a car on the Eastex Freeway Sunday night, according to Houston police.
This happened just before 9 p.m. heading south near Laure Koppe.
Houston police said the victim was hit, went over the retaining wall, and fell about 30 feet to the ground. She was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
The victim had pulled over with her hazard lights on and stepped out of the vehicle when she was hit, police said. The driver involved in that crash stayed at the scene.
While police were investigating the auto-pedestrian crash, one of the officers on the scene was also hit by another woman driver, who showed signs of intoxication, police said.
Police said there were also two young children, a 3-year-old and 6-year-old, inside of the suspect’s car at the time of the crash. The children did not sustain any injuries, but the driver suffered minor injuries.
All three were taken to the hospital as well.
The officer that was hit had some injuries and was taken to the hospital, police said. She appears to be OK.
The driver who hit the officer is expected to face charges.
