Man accused of killing attorney at west Houston McDonald's will be held in jail for now

A judge ruled that Anthony Martin Landry, 57, would be held without bond. He's charged with murder in the death of Jeffrey Limmer.

HOUSTON — A man accused of shooting and killing an attorney at a west Houston McDonald's earlier this month made a court appearance on Wednesday.

Anthony Martin Landry, 57, is charged with murder. Investigators said he shot and killed Jeffrey Limmer, 46, at the fast food restaurant along the Katy Freeway at Chimney Rock around 6 p.m. on May 4.

In court, prosecutors said Landry was seen arguing with a worker over his order when Limmer stepped in and told him to stop yelling at the employee.

Prosecutors said Landry and Limmer had a verbal exchange before Landry left, went and got a gun from his car, came back and shot Limmer multiple times.

Landry faced a judge Wednesday morning. The judge ordered him to be held without bond.

"I don't care if it was self-defense or not," the judge said.

While Landry's defense team is claiming self-defense, prosecutors said they believe it was intentional. The defense team said Limmer jumped on Landry and hit him outside the McDonald's before the shooting.

A memorial service and celebration of life were held for Limmer on Wednesday.

Limmer was an associate at the Houston office of the Lewis Brisbois law firm. According to his biography on the company's website, Limmer attended the University of Texas at Austin and the South Texas College of Law.

His family released the following statement before Landry's arrest.

"Our family is relieved to learn that the suspect has been identified, and we pray that he is apprehended as soon as possible so that he cannot hurt anyone else. Additionally, we are praying for the safety of law enforcement as they work to bring him to justice.”
