HOUSTON — Court documents reveal new details after a man was arrested in connection with the death of a Houston attorney.
Anthony Martin Landry, 57, surrendered on Friday, according to the Houston Police Department. He's charged with murder.
The victim, Jeffrey Limmer, 46, was shot and killed after he tried to intervene in an argument between Landry and employees at a west Houston McDonald's on May 4, HPD said.
It happened on the Katy Freeway near Chimney Rock around 6 p.m.
According to police, managers at the McDonald's told them that Landry came into the restaurant and demanded a refund. He became very irate, and began calling them racial slurs and making crude remarks.
Limmer stepped in to try to calm Landry down, but he instead turned his attention to Limmer.
Limmer and Landry went outside and an argument started. Limmer pushed Landry down, according to police.
Limmer then went back into the restaurant while Landry went to his car and pulled out a gun, police said.
Then Landry went back, opened the door to the restaurant, and shot Limmer multiple times, investigators said. The manager told the employees to run out of the back for their safety.
The attorney died at the scene in the lobby.
Limmer was an associate at the Houston office of the Lewis Brisbois law firm. According to his biography on the company's website, Limmer attended the University of Texas at Austin and the South Texas College of Law.
His family released the following statement before Landry was arrested.
"Our family is relieved to learn that the suspect has been identified, and we pray that he is apprehended as soon as possible so that he cannot hurt anyone else. Additionally, we are praying for the safety of law enforcement as they work to bring him to justice.”
