Suspect surrenders in shooting death of Houston attorney killed at McDonald’s, HPD says

According to police, Anthony Landry argued with employees because he wanted a refund. Jeffrey Limmer, 46, stepped in to calm the customer before he was shot.

HOUSTON — Police say the suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Houston attorney is in custody.

Anthony Martin Landry, 57, surrendered on Friday, according to the Houston Police Department. He's charged with murder. 

The victim, Jeffrey Limmer, 46, was shot and killed after he tried to intervene in an argument between Landry and employees at a west Houston McDonald's last weekend, HPD said.

It happened on the Katy Freeway near Chimney Rock around 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 4. 

According to police, Landry was arguing with employees because he wanted a refund for his order.  Limmer stepped in to try to calm Landry down, but he instead turned his attention to Limmer.

Limmer and Landry went outside and an argument started. Limmer pushed Landry down, according to police, and then walked back inside the restaurant.

Landry went to his car and pulled out a gun and shot Limmer multiple times in front of employees, investigators said.

The attorney died at the scene.

Limmer was an associate at the Houston office of the Lewis Brisbois law firm. According to his biography on the company's website, Limmer attended the University of Texas at Austin and the South Texas College of Law.

His family released the following statement before Landry was arrested. 

"Our family is relieved to learn that the suspect has been identified, and we pray that he is apprehended as soon as possible so that he cannot hurt anyone else. Additionally, we are praying for the safety of law enforcement as they work to bring him to justice.”
