Teen shot, killed by other teen who was playing with gun in southwest Houston apartment, police say

​The Houston Fire Department rushed to the scene to provide treatment, but police said the teen was already dead.

HOUSTON — A teen is dead after he was shot by another teen who was playing with a gun in an apartment in southwest Houston early Sunday morning, police said.

This happened at an apartment complex on Fondren Road south of Bissonnet Street around 2:30 a.m.

According to the Houston Police Department, there were three teens playing with a gun in the apartment unsupervised when it went off, hitting one of them in the abdomen. The shooter reportedly fled the scene with the gun. A witness stayed at the scene and called 911.

The Houston Fire Department rushed to the scene to provide treatment, but police said the teen was already dead.

Police said they believe the shooter and victim are both around the ages of 14 to 15 years old.

The shooter was taken into custody around 6:30 a.m. We don't yet know what charges he will face.
