SPRING, Texas – One suspect was wounded and three others remain on the run after a homeowner opened fire on them following a home invasion in north Harris County Friday night.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, it happened at 10:30 p.m. in a home in the 19400 block of Casper near Lockridge.

Investigators said two men used a large box to pretend they were making a delivery at the couple's residence. When they answered the door, the suspects with the box, along with two other men waiting in the wings, rushed their way into the house and made the couple lie on the floor while the men ransacked the home, taking TV, computers and other valuables.

As the men fled, the homeowner was able to get his gun and fired shots at the suspects' vehicle. One of the shots hit one of the suspects as well as a home across the street.

The suspects fled in their car, which crashed a short distance away.

Deputies ended up driving the wounded suspect to Conroe Regional Medical Center, because weather conditions prevented him from being airlifted by Life Flight and the roads to Texas Medical Center were flooded out.

Deputies said the wounded suspect was in surgery. The other suspects were able to flee the crash site on foot. HCSO searching for the other suspects.

Investigators think the victims may have been randomly targeted.
