Precinct 4 believes there may be other victims of Spring man accused of sexually assaulting internet saleswoman

Aloysius Gardner, a 39-year-old father of five, remained behind bars Friday on charges of indecent sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

SPRING, Texas — A Spring man arrested after a woman said he held her captive in his apartment and sexually assaulted her remains in jail as the investigation continues.

Aloysius Gardner, 39, is charged with indecent sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

Precinct 4 investigators told us Friday that they believe there may be other alleged victims and are urging them to come forward.

Gardner's accuser was going door-to-door for a cable company when he invited her inside his apartment on Trailing Vine Road Dec. 6 to discuss internet services, prosecutors said.

The woman told police he began fondling her and then masturbating in front of her while forcing her to watch. She said she tried to leave several times but Gardner wouldn't let her.

He was later arrested by Precinct 4 deputy constables.

"I'm just shocked that happened here,” a neighbor who asked to remain anonymous told us.

The woman said she spoke with the same saleswoman earlier that day.

"I mean she's just trying to do her job,” the neighbor said. "You've got to be careful everywhere you go, you don't trust anybody, and shouldn't trust anybody, that's awful."

According to prosecutors, Gardner has been in trouble before. They said he has several previous convictions for violent offenses, including violating a protective order.

His current charges are misdemeanors but prosecutors said they will likely be upgraded to attempted sexual assault, a felony.

In court Thursday, his attorney asked for a $2,500 bond but the judge set it at $25,000.

Gardner then became agitated and began pacing as the judge read the bond conditions.

He asked her if his bond was really $25,000 and she said yes.

The father of five then pleaded with her to lower it.

"Excuse me, judge, I work, I have to be to work in two days. I'm pleading my cause with you, can you lower my bond, please miss, please I'm begging you?" Gardner said.

Instead, the judge threatened to raise it so he quieted down.

"Mr. Gardner, I'd advise you to invoke your right to remain silent before I actually raise your bond."

On Friday, a group of women at the apartment complex who claimed to be Gardner’s family said their brother is being falsely accused. They also shared a portion of an audio recording of what they say happened that day and claimed it proves his innocence.

Precinct 4 told us they're still waiting for the family to turn over the full recording.
