HOUSTON — Two men accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a Pasadena store led police on a chase that ended in a fiery crash in southwest Houston overnight, according to authorities.
The Pasadena Police Department said the two men stole somewhere around $3,000 to $5,000 worth of merchandise from a WSS store in Pasadena before leading officers on the chase.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office was able to use a tracking device to help catch the thieves.
The chase came to a fiery end when the Houston Police Department said the suspects ran a red light and crashed into a pick-up truck and a pole in front of a gas station at the intersection of Harwin and Fondren near Sharpstown. The truck's engine burst into flames.
The two men tried to run away but were taken into custody. One of the men was taken to a hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
