Houston police searching for gunman who shot, killed man inside Third Ward restaurant

Investigators said there was an argument inside Leighton's House of Lamb + Ramen on Emancipation Ave. and the victim was shot in the chest.

HOUSTON — The search continues for the gunman who opened fire inside a Third Ward restaurant early Monday, killing a man.

The shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. inside Leighton's House of Lamb + Ramen on Emancipation Ave. near Wheeler Ave. 

The victim collapsed on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. He was rushed to a Houston hospital where he died from a gunshot wound to the chest. 

Witnesses said the gunman took off on foot, heading southbound with a gun his in hand.

She said there were several people inside the restaurant when it happened and they want to hear from any witnesses. They can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

The victim's name hasn't been released.

Last week, three people were shot inside a bar a few blocks away on Emancipation near Blodgett. Police are still searching for the gunman in that case but there's no known relationship.
