EDNA, Texas — The man accused in the death of a Texas cheerleader was indicted on Tuesday.
Rafael Romero, 23, was indicted for capital murder.
Lizbeth Medina, 16, was found dead in a bathtub by her mother on Dec. 5. She had been stabbed, according to police.
Romero was arrested about an hour northwest of Edna a few days after Lizbeth's death. Edna police said they worked with the Texas Rangers to identify Romero as the suspect and found him at a home in Schulenburg.
Jacqueline Medina was left heartbroken and demanded justice for her daughter. She and Lizbeth had only lived in Edna for about a year. The family set up a GoFundMe account to help with expenses.
Lizbeth was her only child and she still had so much to look forward to in life.
