HOUSTON — Two people were shot late Friday night in northeast Houston at a barbecue and taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to the Houston Police Department.
This happened at around 11:30 p.m. on East Houston Road near the Settegast community.
HPD said as officers were arriving at the scene, the accused shooter was pulling out in a truck and led the officers on a brief chase.
"People were yelling at them that the truck was the suspect," Lt. Willkens with HPD said. "They followed that truck, got into a small car chase. They did a pit maneuver, able to take the suspect into custody."
Willkens said the man had a gun on him that matched the shell casings found at the scene.
As for what led up to the shooting, police aren't sure. Willkens said witnesses told them the suspect was asleep and when he woke up, he started shooting at the two men.
