HOUSTON – A SWAT standoff ended peacefully when a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend surrendered to police overnight.
According to the Houston Police Department, SWAT was called just before 11 p.m. Sunday to a domestic disturbance at a residence at the Fall of Point West Affordable Luxury apartments in the 5900 block of Parkfront in west Houston.
At that time, a male, in his 40s, assaulted and then threatened his girlfriend of three months with a weapon.
The girlfriend was able to get out of the apartment and call police. Patrol officers responding were unable to get the man out of the apartment, so HPD SWAT was called in.
After SWAT set up, the man gave himself up and came out to be taken into custody.
The whole ordeal lasted about three hours.
The man faces possible aggravated assault charges.
