Magnolia ISD bus driver accused of child indecency at home with 6-year-old

The school district's administration was notified about the incident, according to the sheriff's office.

MAGNOLIA, Texas — A school bus driver in Montgomery County is facing a child indecency charge after police say he touched a 6-year-old girl inappropriately while off duty.

Matthew Turner Curry, a 40-year-old bus driver for Magnolia ISD, is being held on a $30,000 bond for indecency with a child by sexual contact.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says Curry admitted to touching the young child when interviewed by detectives Friday.

Deputies were dispatched Thursday to a home in Magnolia, where the 6-year-old girl told her parents that a man had touched her inappropriately.

They say the child went to a neighbor’s house to feed their animals, not realizing the neighbor was out of town. She encountered Curry, who was there caring for the animals, according to the sheriff’s office.

That’s where the alleged inappropriate contact happened, the sheriff’s office says.

Detectives later learned Curry is employed by Magnolia ISD as a bus driver. The school district’s administration was notified about the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

The school district released a statement saying, in part:

"Our top priority is the safety and well-being of all students and any deviation from this expectation will not be tolerated."
