LA PORTE, Texas – Two 18-year-olds are in custody and charged after La Porte Police say shots were fired during a road rage incident Tuesday evening.

Deadly conduct charges were filed against both Silverio Jimenez and James Villanueva.

It was around 7:22 p.m. when 911 dispatchers received calls concerning shots fired in the northbound main lanes of Highway 146 along the city's southern portion. Callers told police a white Chevrolet SUV was driving erratically when the passenger fired shots at a black Ford Focus, just moments before exiting the highway.

Officers quickly responded and got witness statements, tracking down the suspects only a mile from the scene.

According to LPPD, the teens were found in possession of shotguns as well as several spent shells. The young men allegedly acknowledged discharging the weapon but said that they were not trying to harm the other driver.

There were no injuries.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office has since accepted charges of Deadly Conduct against both Jimenez and Villanueva.
