Houston Police accuse a young teen of stealing a new BMW and crashing it during a short pursuit on the northeast side early Thursday.

It was around 2 a.m. when an officer tried to stop the vehicle, which still had paper tags, on Collingsworth and Highway 59. The suspect, 14, refused to stop during a short pursuit and eventually lost control on Kelly at Lockwood and crashed into a drainage ditch.

No injuries were reported but the sedan, which has a starting price of $80,000 to $100,000, suffered frontend damage.

Police believe the car is brand new as it still had the paperwork inside it. It’s believed the vehicle was somehow taken from a dealership, but the investigation is still underway.

The teen suspect was taken into custody and now faces felony evading charges.
