Man accused of killing aunt, grandmother to appear in court

Deputies arrested the man early Thursday morning after a girl called police saying he shot and killed the two women and sexually assaulted her.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 25-year-old man accused of killing his aunt and grandmother will face a judge on Monday morning.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Tyler Langdon is also accused of sexually assaulting a girl. When Langdon appeared in probable cause court Friday morning, investigators said he admitted to the killings. He was denied bail.

Langdon was charged with two counts of capital murder.

The sheriff's office said deputies discovered the grandmother shot to death at an abandoned bank on Wortham Boulevard near Highway 6 and Highway 290 in northwest Harris County. While investigating that scene, the girl called the police and said Langdon sexually assaulted her and shot and killed the two women.

When deputies arrived at the second scene on Deep Meadow Boulevard, just a few miles away, they discovered a truck that matched the description of a vehicle that was seen leaving the bank.

HCSO said deputies safely recovered the girl, who had told deputies Langdon was in the home sleeping. He was found in the home, along with his aunt who had been shot to death, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators at probable cause court described the moment Langdon surrendered into their custody.

"The defendant exited the home. When he surrendered to officers, he was in possession of a 9-millimeter handgun and a pocket knife. He confessed to killing his grandma by taking her to the bank parking lot, shooting her, then mutilating her," an investigator said

HCSO said they had previously received multiple calls for service at the home relating to the man and that the family did not consider him welcome there.

The girl was taken to a hospital for treatment and was placed in the care of Child Protective Services.
