HOUSTON — After a man was shot to death while walking his dog, Houston police told KHOU 11 his death is now being investigated as a targeted killing.
It happened just after 11 p.m. Sunday. Officers responded to the scene at the Co-Op at Summer Street apartments.
A 23-year-old man identified as Christensen Hill was found shot to death in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds.
The suspect or suspects who shot Hill left the scene in the victim’s dark grey Cadillac, according to authorities.
“There are some indicators that lead us to believe this was not a random act or a crime of opportunity,” said HPD Assistant Chief Megan Howard. “This individual may have been targeted.”
At a previously scheduled Central Division safety meeting Tuesday, Howard gave that update to community members.
“To think about someone who seems to be doing just an everyday ordinary task … for this to be the outcome is certainly a cause for concern for the public and we understand that,” Howard said.
Howard said police were at a "critical stage" in their investigation and actively following up on leads.
On Tuesday, Hill’s sister Kristian also spoke to KHOU 11 about her brother’s death.
“It was a senseless act of violence,” she said “The people that did this to him we want to make sure they face repercussions because my brother didn’t deserve that.”
Hill’s sister said she also believes Sunday’s shooting was targeted.
