HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating after a 23-year-old man was shot to death while walking his dog outside an apartment complex Sunday night.
HPD Lt. JP Horelica said officers got a call about a shooting around 11 p.m. at an apartment complex on Summer Street, which is near I-10 and Studemont Street.
When officers arrived, they found a man, now identified as Christensen Marcus Keith Hill with multiple gunshot wounds in the complex's parking lot. The Houston Fire Department attempted life-saving measures on him but he was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police the victim was standing by his new dark gray four-door Cadillac with his small dog when two men approached him and opened fire. They reportedly drove off in the car.
A nearby resident, Amy, described what she heard Sunday night.
"What I thought was just like a trailer going over bumps because I'm unfamiliar with gunshots. Right? And then I got a text from one of my friends just saying 'did you hear the gunshots?'" Amy said. "People started coming out to find out what was going on."
Surveillance video provided by a person who lives in the townhomes apart of the complex shows investigators taking pictures of a fence, where it appears bullet holes could have gone through.
"It does worry me for sure and I think all the neighbors are concerned and we just want to find out what happened," Amy said.
Amy is not the only one in the area who feels that way. Lauren Tran lives in the apartment complex where the victim was found and came home to a parking lot full of police cars.
"It was chaotic, like, I couldn't even get into my house, which is very crazy," she said.
Tran walks her dog daily and is now hoping for some security. In the meantime, she plans to change the times she takes her dog out.
"I'm probably going to take my dog out before nine. I would like probably watch others take out their dogs and just kind of follow them," she said.
Lauren and other residents told KHOU 11 News they were not notified by the complex that something happened.
We reached out to the complex, but have not heard back.
