HOUSTON — A woman posing as a nurse has been targeting Houston-area hospitals and clinics, looking for unattended property in waiting rooms, according to the University of Texas Medical Branch Police Department.
Authorities said the thief is believed to be a woman who usually dresses up in medical attire including scrubs and button-down shirts. They also said she wears an identification badge that appears to be official.
Police said she goes around to the hospitals and clinics looking for unattended purses in waiting rooms and lounges where she takes wallets, cash and other valuables.
Investigators released images and video of the suspect and asked anyone with information to call Detective Jeff Rupert at 409-772-5692.
