HOUSTON - A deputy with the Harris County Sheriff's Office was injured when he was hit by a suspected drunk driver.
According to HCSO, Deputy Montoya was in the 10700 block of South Main when a car driven by the suspect was approaching his vehicle at a high rate of speed. Montoya attempted to change lanes to avoid an accident when the suspect's car struck his and forced it into a concrete wall.
The deputy attempted to detain the suspect but police say she accelerated and drove away from the crash.
Parisha Shantal Blade, 31, was apprehended by HPD moments later and brought back to the scene.
Blade did not face any injuries and was charged with DWI and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
Deputy Montoya was taken to the hospital for an elbow injury and later released in good condition.
