Father who allegedly planned honor killings makes court appearance

Irsan is also charged with the killing of the woman he claimed pushed his daughter into the marriage.

HOUSTON - The father who allegedly planned the honor killings of two people made his first court appearance Thursday.

Prosecutors claim Ali Irsan had his daughter's husband killed because of his Christian beliefs. Irsan is also charged with the killing of the woman he claimed pushed his daughter into the marriage.

Irsan's son is in the Harris County Jail charged with and accused of allegedly participating in the murders. Two other family members, who authorities believe are connected to the murders, are still in federal custody but expected to be transferred to Harris County in the coming days.

Irsan is being held on no bond.
