Former Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constable accused of abusing his role to sexually assault two women

Ray Alexander Thompson is accused of using his title as a deputy to take advantage of his victims in at least two different cases.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A former Harris County Precinct 4 constable deputy is out on bond after he was charged with two counts of sexual assault.

Ray Alexander Thompson made his first appearance in court Friday morning. He's accused of using his title as a deputy to take advantage of his victims in at least two different cases.

Investigators said the first sexual assault case happened while Thompson was a Precinct 4 constable deputy in October 2022. That case involved an 18-year-old girl he allegedly met while in uniform at The Galleria mall.

Prosecutors said the two struck up a conversation, which led to the victim getting into his car, where they started drinking and taking shots. This led to Thompson taking her to a hotel room where the victim told investigators she blacked out and woke up with pain in her private areas, prosecutors said.

Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said Thompson was no longer a deputy when the second alleged sexual assault happened. It involved a woman in her 20s in September 2023, whom he met outside her home after making several attempts to court her and told her that he was a deputy, investigators said.

He convinced her to drink with him in his car before he took her to a hotel, investigators said. This victim also reported blacking out and waking up with similar pains.

Prosecutors asked for an $80,000 bond, but the judge set it at $50,000.

"This is a man that is using his badge to execute his crime and that is something we should be very scared of and that is something that a high bond deserves," said prosecutor Kimberly Smith. "Unfortunately, it wasn't the high bond the State requested in this case, but I will respect the court's decision."

"The allegations are very serious, but we believe them to be false," said David Kaitta, Thompson's defense attorney. "Ray cooperated with the police, he's voluntarily given a statement, we've just been waiting for this day to come so we can begin the defense of the charges."

Thompson posted bond after turning himself in on Friday.

Investigators said DNA samples linked Thompson with one of the victims and both victims were able to identify him in a picture.

Thompson has no previous criminal history and is married with three kids.

Investigators believe there may be more victims out there and urge them to come forward.

Thompson is due back in court in December.
