HOUSTON — An innocent driver was critically injured Wednesday night after the vehicle she was driving was struck by a wrong-way driver who was involved in a police chase, according to investigators.
According to Houston police, the Humble Police Department called for help chasing a stolen vehicle.
At some point during the chase, a woman got out of the suspect's car. She was taken into custody, police said.
The suspect ended up turning into oncoming traffic on the northbound feeder road of the Eastex Freeway near Greens Road, according to authorities. Police said officers stopped pursuing the suspect but the suspect vehicle ended up crashing into a woman's car.
The woman was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and the suspect was taken into custody.
Investigators are working to find out more about what led up to the chase.
