Man shoots sister and her boyfriend, drives away with his child in car in Cypress, Pct. 4 says

Deputies found the man at a gas station about five miles away from where the shooting happened.

CYPRESS, Texas — A heated argument between family members early Tuesday morning ended with two people shot in Cypress.

The shooting happened at about 6:30 a.m. inside a one-story home on Galvani Drive.

Deputies said the suspect, who is in his 30s, shot his sister in her hand and her boyfriend in the stomach.

"There was an altercation that was going on at that time and that's when the shooting occurred," said Harris County Precinct 4 Captian Charles Hoover.

The suspect got away with his girlfriend and their toddler but was later caught at a gas station at Jones and Highway 290, which is about 5 miles away from the shooting scene. Deputies said he called a family member and told them where he was.

Air 11 was overhead as the suspect was handcuffed and led into the back of a patrol car. His girlfriend also appeared to be briefly detained but was later let go. Neither she nor their child was hurt.

Hoover said the victims are both in their 20s and were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The male victim had to undergo surgery but he and the female victim are both expected to survive.

The alleged shooter was charged with aggravated assault. He has yet to be identified.
