KHOU 11 News Anchor Len Cannon was honored to emcee the 2018 One People. One World. Gala for Medical Bridges.

It's an organization that takes surplus medical supplies from hospitals in the area and ships them to the underserved communities around the world.

So far, Medical Bridges has sent equipment to 88 countries. It ranges from $8 million to $9 million a year, according to board chairman Mike Weill.

Sponsors identify the needs in other countries. From there, the donated supplies ranges from smaller to larger items - infusion pumps to X-ray and ultrasound machines.

“It’s really basic stuff," Weill said. "And we have so much of it in surplus and they have none of it.”
