FORT BEND COUNTY -- With more rain in the forecast, Fort Bend County residents are advised to stay weather ready over the next few days.
Officials there are closely monitoring the Brazos River, which was already over flood stage after the weekend rainfall.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the river was a couple of feet below major flood stage near Rosharon. It’s a foot below moderate flood stage near Richmond.
More heavy rainfall is expected Thursday evening into Friday morning.

"Our residents need to understand that this is a serious threat," George said. “We are not out of the woods yet."
George is concerned that the continued rain could cause the Brazos River to flood.
Some areas of Sugar Land, Richmond and Rosenberg were hammered with 9 inches of rain Tuesday. Floodwaters shut down roadways, leaving hundreds of people stranded.
County Judge KP George has issued a disaster declaration for Fort Bend County because of flooding concerns. This is the first step toward a state or federal declaration.
