HOUSTON — With Halloween creeping closer, getting your kids ready for the holiday can be a trick or treat, especially when it comes to costumes.
Prices on everything, including outfits for kids, are still on the rise. Luckily, the power of social media is taking the fear out of preparations this season.
When you're a family of five in an economy where everything is going up, saving a buck is an art.
“With twins, I'm always looking for deals," Courtnie Stellas said. "Things can be expensive especially if they're only going to wear something once, like for Halloween."
So Courtnie and Nicholas of Cypress turned to Facebook Marketplace to keep Halloween from haunting their bank accounts.
“They're kids, they don't care about the high dollar stuff,” Courtnie said.
Things like candy and costumes can add up at the most spookiest time of year. Paw Patrol outfits can cost anywhere from $27 to $49 online.
“The kids' costumes today, I got between $5-10 each," Courtnie said. "They have Spider-Man, Paw Patrol, and Power Rangers that they can pick from. Today, they chose Paw Patrol."
Nicholas also mentioned that you can always try to negotiate the asking price if it's still too high.
"It definitely beats that Amazon bill piling up," Nicholas said. "Then all the UPS returns afterward. For a 3-year-old, $5-10 is just my branch."
