HOUSTON — When Meg Owen posts product review on Instagram or her blog, fans know she did weeks of trial and error. She lives in League City with her family, but online, followers know her as Meg O.
Owen is a theater teacher-turned-lifestyle blogger who doesn’t mind baring a freshly scrubbed face to demonstrate how to use a product and if it’s worth your money.
“Between the brands and on social media, it can be very overwhelming for women,” she said. “We’re always inundated with product and we feel like we need 20 million things. I don’t think that is necessarily true with skincare and beauty.”
That’s why Owen came up with a list she calls “Drugstore Skincare Gems.” These are products that she not only uses but recommends to her fans.

Celebrity makeup artist Bobbi Brown reportedly uses the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, too. Khloe Kardashian has posted about the PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash on her Instagram account. Kerry Washington told Allure magazine that she loves the ingredients in the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel moisturizer.
The Neutrogena moisturizer is Owen’s favorite on the entire list.
“It’s great especially for us women who live in Houston where it’s humid,” Owen said. “We don’t like a heavy moisturizer to feel greasy on our face.”
