Amazon Prime Day 2023: How to find the best deals

While it's still a great time to shop, remember competitors like Best Buy and Target will also hold big sales this week.

HOUSTON — Amazon Prime Day starts Tuesday with two days of constantly changing deals.

Savvy shoppers know it's a great time to buy, but before you pull out your laptop and credit card, there are some things you should hold off on buying.

It needs to be said, the first thing you need to do is be an Amazon Prime member. Second, check Amazon every hour or two as the deals change constantly. The third thing is to create a watch list. That way you receive an alert when the price drops.

Consumer Reports said you can expect huge markdowns on Amazon-related items like Alexa, Ring doorbells, Fire Sticks, and Kindles. Small appliances and outdoor gear are also good pickups during the two-day event.

Shoppers beware, Consumer Reports also said that Black Friday, not Prime Day, is the best time to buy a big screen TV or gaming console. While it's still a great time to shop, remember competitors like Best Buy and Target will also hold big sales this week.

Just remember Prime Day is still great for smaller items and household goods. So unless you want Amazon-branded goods, try to wait for some of those bigger purchases, so you don't waste your money.
