HOUSTON — The Houston Humane Society has taken custody of dozens of Rottweiler mixes following an animal cruelty investigation.
Animal control officials transported 33 dogs Thursday afternoon. Houston Humane Society officials plan to receive another round of dogs soon.
Veterinarians are evaluating the dogs and creating treatment protocols to address their individual needs.

Shelter officials said they are having to double and triple up dog residents there to make space. Although the Rottweiler mixes are not yet available for adoption, shelter officials are urging Houston-area residents to consider adopting a dog to add to their family and help free up space.
