17 dogs rescued from inside 'filthy' trailer on Channelview property, skeletal remains also found

Officials said the animals were living in a trailer full of feces, dirt and trash. The skeletal remains of two dogs were also found on the property.

CHANNELVIEW, Texas — Seventeen dogs were rescued from inside a "filthy" trailer on a property in Channelview, according to the Houston SPCA.

The trailer was located on a property on Dell Dale Street near the East Freeway.

The Houston SPCA and Harris County Constable Precinct 1 rescued 17 dogs since May 22, with the final seven dogs being rescued on June 4.

Officials said the animals were living in a trailer full of feces, dirt and trash. They were rescued due to a lack of proper veterinary care and poor living conditions.

The skeletal remains of two dogs were also found on the property, including one still attached to a chain that appeared to be used as a restraint, according to the HSCPA.

The dogs are now in the care of the Houston SPCA, where they will receive individualized care, including treatment for flea infestations, dental disease and severe matting.

Five of the seven dogs that were rescued from the property Tuesday afternoon were taken with a civil seizure warrant served by Harris County Precinct 1.

A court hearing is scheduled for next week.
