HOUSTON — Picture this: it’s 2004, and you’re on the bus en route to school with your CD player and headphones on, listening to some rock band album you swiped from your older brother. You’re not quite sure who the band is because it was your brother’s, but you’ve heard their music before—thanks to FIFA 2004 and several commercials. You instantly become a fan, and they become your daily repeat from morning to evening.

Fast forward to the summer of 2009. The band you discovered in 2004, Kings of Leon, is now a household name, with songs like “Use Somebody” and “Sex on Fire” breaking records and topping charts. Kings of Leon are on top of the world, and you’ve never been prouder to have followed a band you’ve known for years.

It’s now 2024, and while you may no longer listen to Kings of Leon through your CD player or iPod, you know the band still brings a wave of nostalgia to your heart. On Friday night, Kings of Leon brought that nostalgia home to thousands of fans at the Toyota Center.

Judging by the crowd, it was safe to say that many were loyal fans from Kings of Leon’s early days. Every time the band played a throwback, everyone got on their feet and started singing along. The guys performed for almost two hours, delivering a set that included bangers from their old albums and songs from their latest release.

While you might be most familiar with their Grammy-winning hits like “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody,” the band has released an additional five albums over the last 15 years. And that’s what fans got to experience on Friday night.

Some of the songs fans got to hear included “Manhattan,” “Closer,” “Pyro,” “Revelry,” and so much more. Of course, the band had to feature “Sex on Fire” and closed the show with “Use Somebody.”
